MFN116R was one of a number of Leyland Nationals acquired by Redby during 1993/94. The vehicle still looked very smart four years later when photographed in Crowtree Road, Sunderland, on the 13th October 1997. The bus was originally new to East Kent in 1976 as their 1116.

This former Fife Scottish Leyland National 2, RSG819V, is seen outside Sunderland's Crowtree Leisure Centre on 13th November 1998.

L83CNY was one of two Marshall-bodied Volvo B6s acquired from Bebb, Llantwit Fardre in 1996. When seen here on November 10th 1997, the bus had recently been repainted in this rather drab blue livery in preparation for the application of an all-over advertisment.

On December 2nd 1997, Leyland Lynx KAZ2753 (originally D340LSD) takes a break in Crowtree Road prior to operating the 133 service to Doxford Park. The vehicle was originally new to Dodds of Troon in August 1986.

N670VUP was one of a pair of Alexander 'Dash'-bodied Volvo B6s purchased new by Redby in 1995. On January 20th 1998 (just a few months before being sold to Go North East) the bus is seen in Crowtree Road operating service 190 to Castletown.

From the 12th July 1998, Redby commenced operating several Stagecoach Busways services on their behalf in a franchise agreement. Vehicles allocated to these duties initially carried full Stagecoach livery with Busways fleetnames. Looking every bit a Stagecoach bus, Leyland Lynx II J45GGB turns into High Barnes estate on the 1st March 1999.

By the end of 1999, the strict requirement for Redby vehicles operating on Busways franchised services to be painted in Stagecoach livery was relaxed. While some buses received full repaints, others such as KAZ2751 (originally D573LSJ) seen here, simply had their orange and blue Stagecoach stripes painted out in black and ‘Redby Bus Company’ fleetnames added. Originally new to Youngs of Ayr (AA Motor Services) in 1986, this early Leyland TL11-engined Lynx is pictured operating service 14A at High Barnes on November 10th 1999.

B360LSO at High Barnes, Sunderland on the 21st September 2005. This former Scottish Bus Group Alexander-bodied Leyland Olympian was one of two buses of this type to join the Redby fleet during 2004. However, both vehicles have now been sold on for further service elsewhere.

Ex-Stagecoach Transit Leyland Lynx F605UVN seen in Chester Road, Sunderland on the 21st September 2005. This vehicle was one of two Lynxes in the fleet to carry all-over advertising for Durham County Cricket Club who are sponsored by Redby.

A657OCX is one of two ECW-bodied Leyland Olympians that were acquired by Redby during the summer of 2005 from Yorkshire Traction. The vehicle is seen at High Barnes on September 21st 2005.

Olympian A653OCX in Chester Road, Sunderland on the 21st December 2005. When not employed on early morning and afternoon schools duties, this vehicle could often be found working the 14A service as seen here.

Another acquisition during the summer of 2005 was this former Arriva Yorkshire Leyland Lynx II, J380BWU. The bus is seen here putting in a rare appearance on the 14A service at High Barnes on a snowy Saturday 11th March 2006. A couple of months after this photo was taken, the vehicle was sold on for further service to SunFun Coaches of Earith.

Eight Leyland Titans were acquired during 2004, although most were sold on after only a year. NUW668Y was the oldest of Redby’s last two remaining Titans when seen here in Fawcett Street, Sunderland, on 15th August 2006. The vehicle was originally new to London Transport in 1983 as their T668, but latterly saw service with Stagecoach Transit and Stagecoach Busways.

On Saturday 27th May 2006, Leyland Titan A944SYE is seen in Chester Road, Sunderland, on the 14A service. The vehicle was originally new to London Transport in 1983 as their T944, but came to Redby via Stagecoach Fife.

The longer version of the Leyland Olympian chassis fitted with ECW coach body is now quite a rare beast. These luxurious double deckers were originally purchased by several National Bus Company fleets during the 1980s for use on commuter express services into London, but Redby’s A260YEP saw much more mundane duties on schools contracts and bus service work. This impressive vehicle is seen turning into High Barnes estate while working the 09.30 14A service from Helmsdale Road to Docks on May 17th 2006.

Alexander-bodied Olympian E221WBG seen in Chester Road on the afternoon of July 3rd 2006. The vehicle was new to Merseybus in 1988 but was latterly with Northern Blue, whose livery it continued to carry until February 2007.

A regular performer on the 14/14A services was Plaxton Pointer-bodied Volvo B6 L608WWK. The bus is seen in Chester Road on Friday 25th August 2006, sporting an all-over advert promoting Newcastle Vipers Ice Hockey Club.

During December 2005, three brand-new Dart SLFs were purchased, ousting the last of the remaining Mk.1 Leyland Lynxes from the Redby fleet. Two of these vehicles carry 'Mini Pointer' bodies, while NK55KBU - seen here on July 4th 2006 working the 140 service to Doxford International Business Park - is the longer version of the Dart, fitted with 'Pointer 2' bodywork.

On August 28th 2006, 'Mini Pointer' Dart NK55RUW is seen taking a short break between duties on the 558 service at the Seaburn terminus outside the recreation ground.

During September 2006, four Optare Excel low floor buses were acquired, three of these coming from East Thames Buses, while the fourth was latterly with Raddoneur of Wallasey. These vehicles could often be found working South Tyneside College student shuttle services 501/502, and two of the quartet carried appropriate promotional adverts for these duties. However, on the 27th December 2006, P322KAR was seen at High Barnes working the 14A service to Helmsdale Road.

Optare Excel P325NHJ rounds the tight bend into Killingworth Drive at High Barnes, Sunderland, while operating service 14 – Saturday 4th November 2006.

Star acquisition during 2006 was former London Routemaster RML2546 (JJD546D). The bus has been superbly repainted in 1960s London Transport colours and is now used for private hire for weddings and other special occasions. Seen in Redby’s depot yard on the 4th February 2007 in the company of open top former London Metrobus, GYE533W, which was in the process of being prepared for a repaint.

On the afternoon of March 6th 2007, Leyland Olympian/ECW A657OCX is seen at High Barnes operating the 14A service to Sunderland Docks.

In complete contrast, Titan A944SYE was looking very down at heel when seen working the Metro replacement service in Sunderland’s John Street – 11th April 2007.

Several mobile publicity buses were maintained and housed by Redby on behalf of the National Postcode Lottery. Languishing at the back of the depot and just visible from the main road was Leyland Titan A613THV, which had previously been owned by Redby before taking on its new role – 28th April 2007.

Friday 25th May 2007 saw the final day of Redby operation of the 14A service. Freshly outshopped in a livery not unlike that of its previous owner, Yorkshire Traction, Olympian/ECW A653OCX is seen at High Barnes working the penultimate Redby-operated 14A.

On Saturday 26th May 2007, Mini Pointer’ Dart NK55RUV with newly fitted electronic destination display and red skirt, is seen at the Cleveland Road/Ormonde Street junction on the 14 service. The 14/14A services have since been withdrawn and buses no longer serve this section of Cleveland Road.

KX07OOW was one of a pair of brand new Alexander-Dennis Enviro 200s acquired to operate Redby's new 9/99 Hylton Castle circular services. The vehicle is seen in Hylton Road, Sunderland, on Saturday 2nd June 2007.

On the afternoon of Monday 23rd July 2007, ex-Go North East Optare Sigma-bodied Dennis Lance, L482CFT, is seen in Green Terrace, Sunderland.
